Every year, Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) memorializes those we have lost from violence against the trans* community. Throughout the world on November 20th, there will be vigils to honor and remember those who were lost. The official website of TDOR has a list of those murdered throughout the year in violent attacks on the trans* community as well as a list of vigils happening throughout the world.
Violence is a sad reality. The trans* community faces this every day. We think often about the potential when doing such seemingly small things as going to the restroom. It is important to remember those we have lost as we work to try to reduce the violence, to bring education and understanding to the forefront. Please take a look at all of these resources. Read the names, see the pictures of your brothers and sisters and remember this November 20th.
